Claudio Santi was born in Fabriano (AN) in 1967. In 1992 he graduated in Chemistry and Technology of Drugs at the University of Perugia.
From 1992 to 1996 he was PhD student at the Department of Organic Chemistry of the University of Perugia where he obtained his PhD in Chemical Sciences under the supervision of Prof. M.Tiecco.
In 1996 he began working as a research technician at the Faculty of Phamacy of the University of Perugia, investigating the application of organoselenium chemistry in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. 
In 1998 he was post doc researcher at the "Institute fur Organische Chemie" University of Basel (CH) with a Scientific Swiss Foundation fellowship for the "Synthesis of new enantiomerically pure nitrogen containing diselenides and their applications in asymmetric synthesis" working in the group of Prof. Thomas Wirth.    
Since 2002 he is researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy  of the University of Perugia where he teaches  Physical Methods in Organic Chemistry and Spectroscopic methods for biotechnology.
In 2007 he was visiting professor at the School  of Pharmacy Yagellonian University of Kracov PL and in 2009 at the School of Chemistry  in Cardiff University (UK)
On 2005 he becomes aggregated professor and received the abilitation as associated professor on 2010

He is affiliated with the Italian Chemical Society and with the GDRM, the Italian Group of NMR Discussions.  From 2007 he is member of ATA,  the accademic  training association to support the ongoing processes of transition and reconstruction in post-conflict societies. From 2009  he is member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
